When does the Thanksgiving Day Parade take place?

The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place every year on Thanksgiving Day. The Parade starts at 8:30 am.

How long is the parade route?

The parade route is almost 5km and the parade takes approximately 1 1/2 hours from any given point along the parade route.

Where is the bleacher seating located?

Bleacher seating is usually located near the TV coverage area. Tickets are $8 each+HST and Available at the Official Retail Store.

How do I enter a marching band in the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade?

The Parade Bands Committee is now accepting applications. Find the application here.

The deadline for 2017 band applications is May 31, 2017.

How much is the entry fee for a Float in the Parade?

The 2017 float entry fee is $1,700 +HST for Commercial and Municipal entries and $750 +HST for Community Club and Non-Profit entries.

Where can I get a copy of the 2017 Float Application and Rules & Regulations?

The Float Application, Float Information Sheet (used for TV Commentaries) and the Rules & Regulations are available now! Application deadline is Friday, June 23, 2017. 

Note: All entries are subject to the approval of the Parade Committee and Parade Chair, representing K-W Oktoberfest Inc. All approved parade entries will be provided with a letter of acceptance.

Is the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade televised?

The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade was broadcast nationally on CTV to an annual viewing audience of over 1.8 million Canadians on Monday, October 9, 2017. The parade is taped, edited to 1 hour and aired across Canada at noon in all time zones.

Can I enter a special events vehicle with my company logo all over it?

Generally, the only special events vehicles that are permitted in the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade are the following:

a. In some cases special event vehicles are used to tow a float. This information must be included when the Float Application is submitted and is subject to the approval of the Parade Committee.

b. Band Sponsors may be given the opportunity to have one of their special events vehicles follow the band. Click for Information and Guidelines for Band Sponsors.

Are entries to submit a certificate of insurance?

All accepted entries must carry a minimum of $2,000,000 public liability insurance that covers the time period of the Parade. Certificate of insurance must be provided no later than Friday, August 25, 2017. Insurance certificates must include K-W Oktoberfest Inc. as an “additional insured” on the policy. Any entry without proof of insurance WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the parade.
